Biography

It was during the passionate Calcutta monsoons of 1993, that I started learning violin when i was seven years of age, at the Oxford Mission, Kolkata. by observing my brother who is an another accomplished violinist currently performing with the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields and also with the other leading orchestras in UK.Very soon i got chance to play with the senior student orchestra in Oxford Mission.

Not much later, I joined the Mathieson Music School, and my first performance was at the British Council (Kolkata) only a year later, when I was eight years old.

In 1996 the Mathieson Music School toured the UK. I had the chance to played solo to unfamiliar audiences in London, Manchester, Birmingham etc. I also played first violin in several orchestral performances.

I continued to train over the years and joined the Calcutta Chamber Orchestra in 2005 as a tutti violin.
In 2006 I took the Grade 8 ABRSM examination and passed with distinction,receiving special awards for highest marks, scales, sight-reading and performance.
In 2007 I was chosen co-concert master of the Calcutta Chamber Orchestra.That year i went to play with The Delhi symphony orchestra,and there i lead the orchesrta in the second half while performing the Beethoven 5th symphony.

In the same year i had a tour in Japan, and i got chance to play the 1st violin wih The India-Sri-lanka Goodwill Orchestra in tokyo opera city.

In February 2008 I participated in the David Menezes National Violin Competition held in Goa. I performed
Mozart’s Violin Concerto no. 3, 1st movt., Brahms’ Scherzo, and Lalo’s Symphony Espa
ňol, 1st movt., and won first prize. 
In December 2008 I became a Licentiate of the Trinity College of London.

I have been teaching independently since 2009. In 2010 I also joined the Calcutta School of Music as a teacher in violin performance.recently i have joined The Pailan World School as a violin teacher.
